Northwest Autism Center and Washington State University -Spokane are collaborating to host a local conference Friday, October 14, 2016 focusing on issues relevant to those with autism who are adults or teens in transition to adulthood.   Recent studies indicate lower employment rates, lower rates of independent living, and decreased community engagement for those with autism after high school.  Paul Shattuck and colleagues found more than half of young adults with autism were “completely disengaged” from any employment or postsecondary education in the two years after leaving high school (Pediatrics, 2012).

How can our community come together around these issues? What supports do we currently have and how can we address gaps?  Please join us in a day focused on responding to these important questions.
