Inclusion
It is generally believed that children with autism spectrum disorders can benefit greatly from planned and supported inclusive educational settings. To enhance growth across all developmental domains, Domino Project enrolls six children who are deemed “typically developing” peers. These children attend 10 hours per week in the afternoons (Monday-Thursday), and are fully included in all instruction and activities.
Using this model for planned and facilitated peer modeling and interaction, Domino ensures the healthy, integrated environment necessary to support development of language/communication, academic and social skills. In the mornings, the Domino teaching staff is able to provide individualized one-to-one intervention for children with autism while attending the needs of an integrated student population in the afternoons.
